Managing Disaster Relief Operations

LIVE UPDATE ON E-UGNAY HERE

SLB’s new disaster response management system is the next-level convergence of mobile and Internet capabilities designed to consolidate information from all over the country. This allows us to respond more efficiently to any disaster.

The system can generate disaster assessment reports with concrete facts taken from the ground. This information is gathered by authorized field reporters equipped with mobile phones powered by e-Ugnay. The system is able to track the type and number of relief goods needed in a particular location, as well as facilitate their timely delivery to the affected areas—all in real time. The system can also generate photos to be published on the SLB website for public viewing.

With this innovation, we are confident that we are significantly improving our ability to respond to emergency situations anywhere in the country. The system has become our main vehicle to disseminate information to our volunteers and potential donors, thereby maximizing our limited resources during calamities and disasters. It also serves as an effective way of preventing or lessening duplicate efforts among other response groups, allowing us to better allocate our resources. Ultimately, the system provides a direct link between donors and beneficiaries; hence, the system is dubbed as e-Ugnay, an imperative “to connect” the two sectors.

The Disaster Management System Framework

The system allows partner organizations to send disaster assessment forms and requests for relief goods and other data through a mobile phone application which will be consolidated by a web-based application.

The same data, tagged with the geographic location of the user, can also be sent to our server via a mobile application. The system would then save the data, organize the information geographically and display it on a map.
