E-Ugnay Training Held in Naga City
Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan held its E-UGNAY Capability Building last January 19, 2012 at Ateneo de Naga University, Naga City. Twenty-three participants from various organizations attended the event. Registration started at 1PM, which included the installing of the E-UGNAY phone application to the participants’ cellular phones. Mr. Elmer Sto. Domingo, head of the Center for Community Development of Ateneo de Naga University welcomed the participants and guests. Ateneo de Naga University is the major hub of E-Ugnay in Camarines Sur.
The training started with a short introduction of SLB. The participants showed interest and enthusiasm with the convenience this new technology offers. With the thorough discussion and the manuals, it was easy for them to follow the instructions in using the mobile application and the webpage. Several issues on the reliability and efectiveness of the programs were clarified.
Bro. Neo Saicon discussed the benefits of using the new SIM card from Globe Telecom and the possibility of providing them with free load in times of calamity. The E-UGNAY project is not only a one-way communication scheme. The administrators will also send regular news reports and updates to the registered field reporters from time to time. With regard to the E-UGNAY webpage, it will soon be utilized not just as a source of information but also a system for field reporters to use in case requests and assessments via phone app would not be possible.
Globe Telecom representatives, Mr. Bong Esguerra and Ms. Apple Evangelista flew in from Manila to witness the training. They were joined by Mr. Melwin Racines, head of sales of the local Globe Business Office.
